In-Home Fall Prevention & Vestibular Rehab Program

Better Balance Program

Better Balance Program

Our skilled home health program is designed to assess and address the core problems of adults who have a history of falls and/or an increased risk of falling. Developed by medical clinicians, Better Balance utilizes evidence-based standardized testing to identify specific patient dysfunctions that may be contributing to balance issues, then formulates an individualized and targeted care plan.

Interactive Patient Guide

A printed patient-focused guide designed to offer tools, education and exercise techniques to support long-term success. The guide focuses on home safety, fall prevention & techniques to improve balance.

Meet Betty

Betty is 72 years old and enjoys gardening, baking and spending time with her grandchildren. She considers herself fairly healthy and takes medication for high blood pressure and arthritis.

Lately, Betty has noticed a few changes. She sometimes feels tingling and numbness in her feet, mostly on one side. She also has occasional dizziness that comes and goes. She hasn’t talked much with her doctor about these symptoms yet.

A couple of weeks ago, Betty had a fall. She believes it happened because she stood up too quickly and felt dizzy. She wasn’t seriously hurt, but it shook her confidence. Looking back, she realizes she’s had a few “close calls” before, where she almost fell but caught herself in time.

Since the fall, Betty has been less active. Her joint pain has flared up, walking feels harder and she’s worried about falling again. She has some equipment to help her move safely, but she isn’t sure how to use it.

Her doctor recommended in-home care to help her regain strength and feel safer at home.

A physical therapist visited Betty at home to complete a full fall risk assessment and understand what may have caused her fall. Through the Better Balance program, she is learning how to improve her strength, balance and confidence.

The therapist is also helping Betty make simple changes around her home to reduce fall risks. She is being shown how to safely use her equipment, move more confidently and follow an easy exercise plan at home.

With this support, Betty is starting to feel more steady and in control. She’s excited to get back to her normal routine and spend time doing the things she loves while staying safe and independent at home.
