Warning Signs for Hospice Eligibility

What are the most common, subtle hospice eligibility warning signs?
An individual may be hospice eligible if they are:
- Not improving after a fall or health decline, even with intervention or therapies
- Needing more assistance with activities of daily living like walking, dressing or bathing
- More dependent on supportive devices
- Frequently hospitalized or visiting the ER
- Losing weight unintentionally
- Experiencing a decreased appetite or swallowing issues
- Have decreased stamina
- Increasingly or newly incontinent
- Having recurrent infections (UTI or respiratory)
- Decreasing communication
- More disoriented or confused
- Withdrawing from family and friends
- Developing new wounds or wounds that do not heal
